“Whoever does not carry their cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.” — Luke 14:27
Many people want the promises of God, but fewer are willing to accept the cost of truly following Him. Jesus never hid the reality of discipleship. He made it clear that following Him requires surrender, obedience, and a willingness to put Him above everything else.
This message challenges us to understand what it truly means to belong to Christ.
Following Jesus Requires Full Commitment
Jesus did not call people to a casual belief. He called them to complete surrender.
To follow Christ means He becomes Lord over every part of your life—not just your thoughts, but your decisions, your priorities, and your direction.
This means:
- Putting God above personal comfort
- Trusting Him even when it is difficult
- Obeying His Word fully
- Living for His will, not your own
True faith is not partial. It is complete.
Salvation Is Free, But It Will Cost You Your Life
Salvation is a gift given freely by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. We cannot earn it. But when someone truly receives Christ, their life changes completely.
Jesus said:
“Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.” — Matthew 16:25
This means we no longer live for ourselves. We live for Him.
Our identity, purpose, and direction are now found in Christ.
Many Believe, But Few Truly Follow
There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and following Him.
Many people believe in Him but continue living according to their own will. True disciples, however, surrender their lives completely to Him.
Following Jesus means:
- Leaving behind sin
- Choosing obedience
- Standing in truth
- Living differently from the world
This is not always easy, but it is the path to true life.
True Discipleship Transforms Everything
When someone truly follows Christ, their life changes from the inside out. Their desires begin to align with God's will. Their purpose becomes centered on Him.
They no longer live for temporary things, but for eternal truth.
This is what it means to be a disciple.
Not just believing—but following.
Not just hearing—but obeying.
Not just knowing—but living.
